
Recognizing that video provides an adaptable and powerful way to express individual and collective voices, Monte has spent the last three years applying his vision to assist indigenous partners in Peru. In the process, he has developed community websites, filmed and edited multiple documentary films and above all, built relationships based in a deep respect for indigenous peoples. Kate directs Mana Studios' projects with the belief that independent media realizes its ultimate potential when communities are empowered with the skills and means to represent themselves. A graduate of Williams College, Kate's vision is defined by commitments to social justice, environmental awareness, and the reclamation of original knowledge. In pursuit of these ideals, she has collaborated with Asociacion ANDES (Peru), The Pachamama Alliance (San Francisco), The Sacred Land Film Project (San Francisco), and Persistent Productions (Singapore). Kate is the recipient of a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship, U.S. Fulbright Fellowship, and was recently selected as a semi-finalist by Echoing Green in recognition of her potential as a social innovator.
